If your car is a 1996 or newer model it is nearly impossible to troubleshoot rough running conditions or the dreaded check engine light without an OBD-2 complaint code scanner. These simply hand held devices can access your car's computer and determine what part is not working properly. Rough running conditions can be caused be everything from a loose fuel cap, to problems with the Mass Airflow Sensors, or even a fault Oxygen sensor located in your exhuast pipe. Without the proper diagnostics tools you will simply be swapping very expensive parts, hoping to find the problem.
